Safety Break Event

In collaboration with the NYS Thruway Authority, NYS Police, NYS DOT and industry partners, GTSC participates in an annual “Safety Break” event which encourages all drivers to be aware of the “no-zone” around large trucks and buses. The "No-Zone" refers to the blind spot areas around large commercial vehicles, or the areas where cars are so close to the truck or bus that the driver's ability to stop or maneuver safely is restricted.

Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program

All of these programs are an outgrowth of the Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program (MCSAP) developed by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). The MCSAP is a Federal grant program that provides financial assistance to States to reduce the number and severity of crashes and hazardous materials incidents involving commercial motor vehicles (CMVs).
